Blog 9: How to Subscribe to an RSS Feed
The Doom Club Has RSS!!!
I’m so exited to announce RSS, now I can annoy the crap out of everyone by sending a million pings to everyone who subscribes! Setting up the RSS was super easy thanks to HUGO, the static website builder I am using for this site.
What is RSS?
RSS is a simple tool to keep in touch with websites you like. It gives you a ping on a given website’s page, so you can stay in touch with blogs, news, etc. It generates a XML link for a page on a site that pings should usually come from. For example, the blog page has one but the individual blog does not.
How to Subscribe
- Have an RSS reader, I recommend for browsers I recommend WebFeed. And for iOS I recommend NetNewsWire
- Once you have them go to the Blog home page and look for the orange Wi-Fi looking logo on the bottom left corner. It will open some crazy code, that’s XML code that the XML reader uses for notifications, just ignore it.
- For Web Browsers: Click on the WebFeed extension logo, it will open a little blue box with the URL click it.
- For the Phone: Just copy the URL and go to the app, click on the + button on the bottom right, and click on the add feed button. Simply paste the URL where it says URL.
- Enjoy the pings!
How cool is that? If you’re having any problems drop a comment down here and I’ll try to troubleshoot it.
